What is a WOK Status?

Want to fix the wok status on your scooter but don't know how, where, when or why? Read how to easily do this yourself or have it done.

Every scooter is inspected by the Netherlands on various aspects for safe road use. But it sometimes happens that after using your scooter you no longer meet their requirements. If this is the case, the police may give you a WOK notification. With a WOK (wait for inspection) scooter you are no longer allowed on the road, your license plate will be revoked and you have to inspect the scooter so that the WOK notification will be removed by the RDW.

When do I get a WOK status?

You can get a WOK status for many reasons. You can get a WOK status for any defects on your scooter.
Defects such as, for example:

• Speed limit exceeded
• Lighting not working
• Worn tires
• No mirror (provided it is not necessary)

But you can also get a WOK status for worn brakes, for example.
So it is not only important that if something is broken you need to get it fixed but also that you get timely maintenance done on your scooter.

How do I get rid of my WOK status?

To get rid of a WOK status, you will have to make an appointment with the RDW. They will then re-inspect or reject your scooter. It is therefore important to have your scooter fully checked by a professional. At scooter-repair-service we are specialized in making your scooter "RDW ready".

How much does an RDW re-inspection cost?

Has your scooter been modified and are you going to have your scooter inspected? Then it will cost you €64 to re-register your license plate. It will also cost you an additional €10.00 to put the scooter on your name. It can also happen that you have received a fine while getting a WOK status, then everything in total can sometimes add up to €300.

The day of the RDW re-inspection.

Now you are wondering how you are going to get to the RDW on the day of the re-inspection. You may, of course, transport your scooter with a van or motorcycle trailer. You can also apply at the RDW for a one-day registration plate so that you can drive to the inspection and return on the day of the re-inspection. You must of course bring proof of the inspection with you so you can show it if you are stopped. After the RDW has removed the wok report, you may drive on the road again.

What will all be checked ?

During the reinspection, there are many aspects on which your scooter will be checked.
Below, we have listed some of them

• Chassis number.
• Lighting
• Engine type - Engine number
• Tires (direction of rotation + tread)
• Brake hoses
• Brake discs + brake pads
• Ball head bearings + Wheel bearings
• Speed

On the day of the RDW appointment, you may drive your scooter to the RDW. If the police stop you, you may continue driving with the proof of the inspection appointment.
