What does scooter suspension mean?
A scooter suspension simply means that you put your scooter on non-active.
To have your scooter suspended, you must let the RDW know. They will then put your license plate on non-active. Only the owner may do this, so do not forget to bring your identification and license plate.

Why should I suspend my scooter?
This is a question that is often asked. If you are going on vacation for a long time or if you know that you are not going to use your scooter for a long time, it is a good idea to suspend your scooter. What can I no longer do if I suspend my scooter?
If your scooter is suspended it means that you are no longer allowed on public roads. If it does, the owner of the scooter will risk a hefty fine of as much as €360 in addition to that you risk other consequences.
What about your insurance if you suspend your scooter ?
If you suspend your scooter, you no longer have to meet the obligation of the third-party insurance. You will have to cancel it yourself. If your scooter is no longer suspended, you are obliged to have third-party insurance. You will have to apply for this again. If your scooter is suspended and you have no insurance, you risk a fine of €420,00 for driving without insurance.
How can I take my scooter out of suspension ?
There are two different ways to get your scooter out of suspension. You can do this by going to a ticket office or through the RDW website.
Terminate suspension online.
You can end the suspension for your scooter online by going to this link. This link will take you to the RDW website where you can then de-suspend your scooter. Make sure you have access to the DigId to which the license plate is linked. So the person in whose name the scooter is registered should log in.
Scooter suspension through a counter.
You can also debark your scooter at a registration desk or RDW point. To do this, bring the registration certificate, transfer slip and valid identification. If you arrive and hand this over to the relevant employee, they will suspend your scooter immediately and it should also be insured again.
