What is E10 gasoline and E5 gasoline?
E10 gasoline. You've probably heard about it. Since October 1, 2019, Euro 95 E5 gasoline no longer flows out of the gas stations but E10 gasoline. DIt was done because this reduces co2 emissions. So what is e10 gasoline? E10 gasoline is gasoline that contains a percentage of 10% bioethanol. So the gasoline is 10% bioethanol and 90% fossil fuel. Bioethanol is made by fermenting wheat, corn or sugar. E5 gasoline is only 5% bioethanol and 95% fossil fuel. In order to determine which one is right for your scooter you can do the E10 check.
Which gasoline fits my scooter?
Now that you know a little more about what e10 and e5 is, you can see if it fits your scooter. E10 gasoline is known for the fact that due to the increased dose of bioethanol, it can cause higher temperatures in the engine. The engine cannot withstand such high temperatures which can cause it to break down. Also, ethanol is much more aggressive towards a number of metals and plastics which can cause the pipes and/or manifold to leak.

Want to be sure if your scooter is suitable? Then do the E10 check. Based on your brand you can see if your scooter, motorcycle or car is suitable for E10 gasoline. If your scooter is not suitable for E10, it is best to use E5 petrol. It does not matter which octane rating you use. As long as you do not fill up below the recommended octane level. Tanked the wrong gasoline after all?
If you have almost an empty tank and you arrive at a gas station that only has E10 then it is best to put a small amount in so you can make it to the next gas station. At the next gas station refuel your scooter with E5 to bring the percentage of ethanol down to avoid damage. Did your scooter still break down? If so, feel free to contact us.
