When to replace scooter tire?
Unfortunately, many accidents still occur because of poor tread. Not being able to brake properly, skidding, slipping out of turns, and getting a blowout are just a few of the problems that can occur and happen to you. So make sure you change your tire in time if the tread on your scooter tire is fading. This is because it is very dangerous to go on the road with a faded scooter tire tread.

When to replace?
We recommend that you replace your scooter tires after 5,000 km. Depending on your driving style, this can sometimes be earlier but on average, it is wise to replace your scooter tires after 5000 km.
Changing your scooter tire yourself?
Although it is possible to change your scooter tire yourself, we do not recommend this if you have no experience with it. Many people who have changed a tire themselves often contact us later because they did not properly balance their tire. The tire wears out much faster and this increases the risk of a flat tire. We advise you to have an experienced mechanic come and change your tires so that you have suitable and balanced tires.
How do you replace a scooter tire?
- First, remove any parts that get in the way of getting to the rims.
- Then remove the rim from the scooter. The rear rim is usually attached to a large cap (size 22 or 24).
- Deflate the tire by depressing the valve.
- Press the tire to the center of the rim, using the vise or a tire tool.
- Remove half of the tire from the rim, do this by using the tire spoons.
- Now also pull the other side of the tire over the rim flange, the tire is now detached from the rim.
- Mount the new scooter tire back on the rim, lubricate the new tire with grease or vaseline so it slides more easily around the rim. With very stiff tires it is also sometimes useful to heat the tire with a hair dryer or paint burner.
- Now press the second side of the tire over the rim flange so that the tire sits in the correct place on the rim.
- If the valve was not already taken out, take it out now. The valve obstructs air flow so not enough air can pass through at once. Once the valve is out, it is time to inflate the tire and make sure it pops around the rim! Now with the compressor and air syringe, fill the tire all at once so that it pops around the rim! WATCH OUT FOR YOUR FINGERS! Keep them OUT of the rim flange.
Remove the air syringe from the valve, the tire will deflate slightly. Then insert the valve and set the tire to the correct pressure.
Replacing your tires is necessary. You can get hefty traffic fines for riding unsuitable scooter tires and this is justified because it is dangerous.
